Prayer of Thanks Giving
We are always thankful to God for many things in life.I would like to share what I came across in the book of Colossians about Thanking God.There are 5 occuranes of thanks giving in the book of colossians.
#1 Thank God for the Salvation
Colossians 1:12 — Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light;13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son
God Loved us so much he sent his son to die on the cross for you and me, he became sin for us so we can get deliverance and we can enter into his kingdom. If we are born again, nobody has to tell us we need to be thankful for his sacrifice, out of our adoration to him, and our spirit cries out with a Thankful Heart. Not with our lips with our hearts.
#2 Thank God for his sanctification work in us
Colossians 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
We need to praise God for how he is helping us to understand the word and enabling his grace to obey the word. The bottom line is how he is molding us changing us each day into his likeness. It’s a life long process, whatever stage we are in our walk with God we need to observe our walk with God and
praise him for how he helps us when we fail and help us to overcome our weaknesses.
#3 Thank God for his peace that rules our heart
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
As we walk with the Lord in the light of his word by trusting and obeying, we will have peace in our hearts. Our situations won’t define our peace. Our peace comes from the Lord. Irrespective of circumstances, we can find peace knowing our Lord knows it all, and he is in control.
#4 Thank God for the HOPE , FAITH and LOVE
Colossians 1:3–5 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
Thank God for the hope we have in him and the love he shows the Faith he gives us. All these are gifts from God. Not only for ourselves we need to praise God for our fellow brother and sister for their hope, love, and Faith
#5 When and How to Pray
Colossians 4:2 — Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
We have to pray continuously, not specific time or day. We should always be talking to GOD. we should also be watchful not to be deceived by legalism or some learned habits of prayer, but we need to pray as the spirit leads being watchful with Thanks Giving! ( 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18)
