Abide in me

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

Jesus is → The true vine
Father is → The Gardener
We are all → The branches

Branch
doesn’t bear fruit → He takes away
bear fruit → He purge it.

First question I have is what is “ FRUIT” here?
Fruit is Fruit of the spirit → Christlikeness.

Galatians5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Branch doesn’t bear fruit:
If I do not produce the fruit of spirit I will be cut off from the christ! Its scary this tells me once saved always saved is not true. salvation is the starting point of my saving. As I am born again I have to cleanse myself producing fruit of the spirit in other words christlikeness.

Branch bear fruit:
Definition
Purge is — get rid of unwanted qualities , condition or feeling

As we wash ourselves with the word of God every day and waking in obedience, little by little producing the fruit of spirit.The things we used to do we do not do it any more, it’s the change of heart towards christ produce fruit of the spirit.

What is purging will do ?
Most of us have had some experience of Sorrow, disappointment, failure, a sense of weakness or some passing experience of life left us shocked and hurt, feeling cast off and rejected. Yet here we are encouraged to remind ourselves that this is the work of a loving Father who does it so that we may “bear more fruit.”

What do we do in the purging process:
when we go through any trail, If we start asking God what you want to teach me from this God? teach me ? reveal sin in me? reveal where I opened door for enemy to have these anxious/fearful thoughts.God will teach us and helps us to overcome.

Let us remind ourselves when we are going through situtaion (small to big storms )that God is doing purging in our lives. He wants us to be fruitful! Let’s endure the hardship to see the work of God in our lives which transform us into his likeness.

How can we do ?
Can we do this on our own strength ? No way!
We can not do it ourselves the key here is “ Abide in me “ We have to abide in christ to bring fruit. without him we can’t do. we have to continue to abide in him! Continue to walk with him , follow him as his sheep!!
